Why is there a Privacy Policy

In April 2000, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, (the “Act” or “PIPEDA”) was passed. It sets out rules for the management of personal information by private sector organizations in respect of their commercial activities.

The Act strives to achieve a balance between:

  • The right of privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information; and

  • The need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.

Should there be, in a specific case, any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and Canada’s federal and provincial privacy laws, as applicable, this Privacy Policy shall be interpreted, in respect of that case, to give effect to, and comply with, such privacy laws.
